The Indian Institute of Bank Management(IIBM) which was established in 1980, has grown into an All India Institute, with a pan-India outlook and special focus on the North Eastern Region. The Institute imparts training of high standards to bank personnel, conducts in-company training programmes for newly recruited officers and staff of banks, promotes research studies and provides consultancy services to banks, financial institutions and State Governments.
The Indian Institute of Bank Management (IIBM) Guwahati is an autonomous institution sponsored by RBI, NABARD, SBI, UCO Bank, Central Bank of India, Union Bank of India and Indian Bank. The Governing Board of IIBM comprises top executives from the banking system like Chairman, NABARD, MD & CEOs of banks and other experts and is Chaired by Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India.
Located in the institutional area of Guwahati city, gateway to North Eastern Region, IIBM has experienced faculty from industry & academia to bring both conceptual & operational dimensions of banking to its training initiatives. To enhance the quality of the programmes and make it relevant for practising bankers, faculty are sourced from the sponsored banks, RBI, NABARD etc, who have hands-on experience.
The institute has facilities like the state of the art classrooms, conference rooms, hostel with facility and a well-stocked library. The Institute has also a state of art Computer Centre with high-speed internet connectivity for meeting the training requirements of the banks in the digital era. IIBM has emerged as an institute of repute, known for its contribution in areas like inclusive banking, financing micro, small & medium enterprises, agriculture & Non-Farm Sector Finance, Branch Management, Retail Banking, Cyber Security and Climate Change Risk, etc. Increasingly new players like the Fintech companies, Small Finance Banks, NBFC etc. are becoming part of the eco systems and the Institute is geared towards the meeting the requirements of these entities as well as also providing its services to both the state and central govts. It is also poised to provide policy inputs to its clientele through its quality research and disseminate it through seminars and workshops etc.
