WHY THIS PROGRAMME?

• The nature and diversity of the northeast region is unique in terms of its ethnic origins, linguistic variations, religious pluralism and culture. Though the region is endowed with abundant natural resources, the economic development of the region has not kept pace with the rest of the country. The region has also suffered due to insurgency problems till recently.
• Bank credit plays an important role in economic development of any region. However, the C-D ratio of the region as on 31st March 2018 is only 39.2 as against all India average of 75.6.
• In the above backdrop, officers posted to the region from other parts of the country need to quickly acclimatise themselves with the uniqueness of the region so that they can effectively contribute towards economic development, more particularly in financial inclusion as well as C-D ratio improvement of the region, thereby making their tenure in the region an exciting and fruitful one.
