WHY THIS PROGRAMME?
The nature and diversity of the northeast region is unique in terms
of its ethnic origins, linguistic variations, religious pluralism and culture.
Though the region is endowed with abundant natural resources, the economic
development of the region has not kept pace with the rest of the country.
The region has also suffered due to insurgency problems till recently.
Bank credit plays an important role in economic development of any region. However, the C-D ratio of the region as on 31st March 2018 is only 39.2 as against all India average of 75.6.
In the above backdrop, officers posted to the region from other parts of the country need to quickly acclimatise themselves with the uniqueness of the region so that they can effectively contribute towards economic development, more particularly in financial inclusion as well as C-D ratio improvement of the region, thereby making their tenure in the region an exciting and fruitful one.
The 3-day programme is designed to acclimatise the officers, coming from other parts of the region, to the northeast region through a better understanding of the region in terms of its history, geography, demography, economy, etc.
To create awareness about problems and prospects of banking as well as financial inclusion in the region.
To acquaint participants regarding various policies related to rural and industrial development of region.
To inculcate and develop necessary aptitude and soft skills required to work in the region.
Profile of northeast region- history, geography, demography and economy
Unique features- political structures like 6th schedule, community governance of land, traditional institutions, jhum cultivation
The problems and prospects of banking as well as financial inclusion in the region.
Various policies for incentivizing growth in the region- policies related to industry, rural development, transport subsidy etc.
Cultural differences unique to the region and soft skills to work in cross cultural environment.
The actual content may also be customized to suit participants' profile and expectations.
Methodology includes a mix of Interactive lecture sessions, discussions, experience sharing.
Officers of Public and private sector banks, RBI, NABARD, NHB, SIDBI, EXIM Bank, etc. who are posted to North East from outside the region.
The workshop will commence at 9:30 a.m. on June 17, 2019 (Monday) and will be over by 5:00 p.m. of June 19, 2019 (Wednesday). We provide hostel accommodation on a twin sharing basis.

Generally payment of participation fees is to be made in advance through
National Electronic Fund Transfer (NEFT) on or before the due date for
submission of nomination. In exceptional cases a Demand Draft/Pay Order
drawn in favour of Indian Institute of Bank Management payable at Guwahati
may be forwarded along with hard copy of nominations. It may kindly be
ensured that the officers being deputed for training carries details of
