Hemanta Barman completed his MA in economics from Gauhati University. He earned his PhD in economics from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG). His primary research focus is on macroeconomic issues related to India. In his doctoral dissertation, he studied the growth and dynamics of the services industries in India with special focus in the banking and the telecommunications services. He has published research articles in reputed international as well as national journals such as Telecommunications Policy and Indian Journal of Human Development. He has also presented his research works in reputed conferences and seminars within India and abroad. Prior to joining the IIBM, he was working as Visiting Faculty at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhagalpur.
